Meadowfoam is the common name of the plant whose scientific name is Limmanthes alba. The extreme whiteness of its petals and their velvety texture are reminiscent of cotton fields. The micro-particles of oil from its seeds can penetrate damaged hair and repair it. This oil also protects the hair from damage by drying appliances (hair dryers and hair irons), restores elasticity and prevents loss of moisture from the hair.

Hair which has been chemically curled or straightened is often difficult to manage and comb. Controlling its shape or straightening natural curls may mean subjecting it to a chemical smoothing process which can cause the hair to lose its shine and become matt.
